Working with an Acrylic ATC
The new That's Crafty challenge is ATC and this is my make using a That's Crafty Acrylic ATC. I have to confess I have never worked with acrylic and been
a little scared of it, but DT mate Deb encouraged me to have a go, which I did
and it went fine which is why I am blogging this. We all sometimes feel apprehensive when
working with a new material or medium but I guess the trick is to just dive in
and hope.
What is lovely about the material is how you can layer and see layers through each other and get a wonderful quality of light coming through.

New World
The challenge today at the That’s Crafty Challenge Blog is “Winter
but not Christmas”. Although we tend to
think of snow at Christmas for many of us it is really January when we see the
snow. A thick white layer of snow
changes the world of winter brown we know to one of wonderland. And more wonderful still beneath the snow and
nestled in the earth the bulbs of early spring are waiting to leap into action
and bring us another world of sunshine and fresh growth. The sense of new worlds and new growth
inspired this tag. These MDF tags are
thick and strong, brilliant for doing things normal tags cannot handle. The background is several layers of ultra
thick embossing powder heated to bubble and swirl. The Carabelle Studio Stamp Set Every Bird image has been
coloured with Pitt Pens stamped onto card and cut out. The sentiment is from the Chit Chat
stickers.

Key to My Heart
This is my make today over at That's Crafty DT Blog.
These tags are so sturdy they can take much more punishment than you could normally throw at a tag and support greater weight in embellishments. I started both the tag and heart with a layer of Gesso.
On the tag I added Modelling Paste through That’s Crafty
stencils, When dry I painted it with the Pearl Metallic Paint, in a small
amount of separate Pearl paint I added a tiny amount of the Lindys Magicals
powder to tint the pearl paint and blended it into the tag leaving some parts
pearl and others a pale pink. I added
random text stamping.
For the heart I again painted it with the pearl paint, then
went over that with the alcohol inks, on one side of the heart I added a
further layer of pearl and the other a layer of the Ranger Crackle
Accents. I gave the key a coat of the
Gilding Wax.
I coloured the canvas with a mix of water and a Magicals and cut a heart out of
the canvas slightly larger than the MDF heart and one from the wadding the same
size.
For the flowers I mixed a combination of the Pearl paints
with Magicals
When dry I assembled the tag
