Deco Butterfly

Today is the start of a new challenge over at That's Crafty and the theme is Girls will be Girls.  My card reflects the contrasts of life for women in the 1920s and 1930s one the one hand to be decorous and modest and also become more liberated, drink cocktails and dance to jazz music.  The stamp is by Oxford Impressions and there is a lot of Glimmer Mist and glitter in there too. So if you would like a chance to win a £20 Gift Voucher why not pop over to the Challenge Blog now.

Enchanted

Another journal page from me for the That's Crafty DT.  I think people use their journals for lots of different purposes some to document their lives, some to document their artistic journey, others to experiment with techniques and combinations.  I certainly fall in the last category and often the experiments are just that and end up covered in Gesso or gelli prints for another projects or sometimes I am happy with the outcome and want to use make a completed project, this was one of those instances where I had been playing with paint sprays and rather liked the muted effect.

Autumnal Leaves

What two blog posts in one day, I shall need to lie down in a darkened room. This is my DT make for the current That’s Crafty challenge Lovely Leaves.   My Autumnal Leaves are made using the  Tim Holtz Tattered Leaves Die  coloured and crumpled.  The main image is by Finnabair for Prima.  Then there is Glimmer Mist, wooden eggs painted as acorns and some micro beads thrown in for good measure.  If you would like to see the other DT work or join in the challenge to win a £20 Gift Voucher pop over now to the challenge Blog.

I decided to make a door hangar and this is what I used

Wood Door Hangar

Number Stencil
DecoArt Media Acrylic Fluid  in Cobalt Teal, Cerulean Blue
American Multisurface Neon – Green
Eclectica EM12 stamp by Paper Artsy
Small number stamp  from Grunge stamp set by Art Journey
Archival Inkpad Jet Black
Pitt Big Brush Stamper PEns
White Sharpie Pen
Text stickers
Tim Holtz Remnant Rubs Numbers
Treasure Gold – Renaissance
DecoArt Media Texture Crackle

and what I did -

1.       Coat  the wood hangar in gesso
2.       Spread DecoArt Modelling paste through the number stencil with a palette knife
3.       Stamp the Eclectica stamp on the hangar and mask
4.       Apply  a thin layer of the Texture Crackle in odd spots here and there.
5.       Paint with the Cobalt Teal, Cerulean Blue  and Neo Green paints blending as you go
6.       Over stamp in a random fashion with a number stamp using the Pitt Big Brush Stamper Pen in green.
7.       Remove the mask and colour in the stamp with  Pitt Big Brush pens and pick out white highlights with the Sharpie pen
8.       Go over outline with black pen to ensure it pops
9.       Add text stickers
10.   Highlight the stenciled numbers and edges with Treasure Gold

Wishful

Well they say in crafting there are no mistakes only learning opportunities and if that is true wow was I learning a lot yesterday.  I can’t count how many times I started a project for todays post on the That's Crafty blog, That's Blogging Crafty. I experimented with water colour pencils, gelatos, various media and while experimenting is fun none of the efforts left me with anything useful, apart from those lessons learned.  So with the clock ticking I settled on a quick ATC, but even here I messed up the base of the mushrooms originally colouring it green which was unclear in contrast to the background so on went purple ad then I lost all the inking s had to “draw” it back in Hey ho!  For full details pop over to the That's Blogging Crafty site.
